Swans swim atop the Kenai River below Skilak Lake on Tuesday. Trumpeter swans have been surveyed on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge since 1957, when only 20 pairs were nesting on the peninsula. At this section of the Kenai River, motorized boats are restricted which is a big help for the spring-staging swans in the area. (Photo by Kat Sorensen/Peninsula Clarion)
