An officer at Spring Creek Correctional Center in Seward was arrested Thursday on allegations that he delivered illegal drugs to an inmate.
According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, staff at the center reported around 4 p.m. that 44-year-old Steven Manuel, a Seward resident, had brought substances into the facility.
Troopers investigated the allegation and found that Manuel had brought around 50 grams of meth and 87 strips of Buprenorphine strips to an unnamed inmate, according to the dispatch.
Manuel was arrested and taken to Seward Jail on a first-degree charge of promoting contraband, a third-degree charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance, and a fourth-degree charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance.
Investigation is ongoing, the dispatch says, and more charges may be filed.
