After last month receiving the final approval from the State Board of Education, the Kenaitze Indian Tribe is set to open its Tułen Charter School during the next school year. Principal interviews are set for next week, and the tribe is collecting applications for an enrollment lottery.
Tułen, per a release from the tribe, will open in fall of this year with classes for students in the kindergarten through third grade and a curriculum that integrates Dena’ina language, culture and traditional values.
Pre-enrollment forms, “required for a child to be eligible” for the school’s enrollment lottery, can be accessed at bit.ly/TCSPreEnrollment. A link is also available on the tribe’s Facebook page.
The school’s Academic Policy Committee will host public interviews for the candidates for Tułen’s principal on Monday, April 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kahtnuht’ana Duhdeldiht Campus.
“Assistance with the pre-enrollment process will also be available at that time,” the release reads.
