Two people were sent to the hospital after a head-on collision near Kenai Central High School on Thursday.
Members of the Kenai Fire Department, Nikiski Fire Department and Kenai Police Department responded to the accident that happened just after 2 p.m., said Kenai Fire Chief Jeff Tucker.
“We had two vehicles basically hit head-on on the Kenai Spur Highway just before Dolly Varden (Street),” he said.
The driver of one vehicle and one person from the second vehicle, in which there were two people, were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with injuries, Tucker said. The accident blocked a few lanes of the highway, Tucker said, but wreckers were on their way to clean it up around 3:30 p.m.
