The Kenai Watershed Forum was given a grant from ConocoPhillips to fund environmental research, restoration and educational projects, according to a press release from the forum.
Conoco has agreed to match donations of up to a total of $150,000 to support KWF’s mission now through mid-June. The forum, a nonprofit organization in Soldotna, is dedicated to conserving Kenai Peninsula waterways and surrounding habitat.
“Since its inception, KWF has served the communities of the Kenai Peninsula and Alaska as a trusted partner, looking out for the needs of our cherished environment and all those that live, work, and play here,” the release states. “From educators to fishermen, to scientists and weekend warriors alike, we can all agree on the work that keeps the Kenai and people of Alaska healthy.”
According to the release, Conoco has been a partner of the KWF for 25 years.
People can donate to the forum as part of the campaign through June 19 at kenaiwatershed.org.
