The National Weather Service in Anchorage issued a special weather statement for the Western Kenai Peninsula on Friday afternoon. A warm front was expected to bring a light wintry mix and freezing drizzle that could cause a light dusting of snow and a light glaze of ice on surfaces.
The wintry mix and freezing drizzle was expected to hit the Kenai Peninsula north of Ninilchik including Kenai and Soldotna from midnight through 7-8 a.m. on Saturday morning. Other Kenai Peninsula municipalities included in the statement were Homer and Cooper Landing.
The NWS was also forecasting snow and freezing rain Saturday morning and evening, with a high near 37 degrees. Up-to-date weather information can be found at forecast.weather.gov.
