Winter weather advisory for western peninsula

An intense weather system will bring heavy snow to the western Kenai Peninsula Monday night and through Tuesday afternoon, according to a winter weather advisory issued Monday afternoon by the National Weather Service.

The advisory impacts the communities of Kenai, Soldotna, Cooper Landing and areas north of Anchor Point. The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Snow accumulation of 4 to 9 inches is expected, and residents can expect slippery road conditions on their morning commutes.
