Opening night of the Third Annual Alaska Dirt Track Shootout was rained out Friday, giving race fans a double dose of dirt racing action Saturday afternoon and evening. The early action included several wild crashes, including a nasty tumble by Ty Torkelson in the second heat of the Legends division, which began when Torkelson got clipped by a spinning Robert Spoke, sending him barrel rolling down the backstretch.
All five divisions of racing were competing for a $10,000 purse. The Sprint Car feature winner took home the night’s largest prize of $936.
