Three members of Alaska 20 were part of a dramatic game between the American Division All-Stars and Legion Legends on Wednesday.
The Legion Legends held a 2-0 lead heading into the seventh inning. The American Division All-Stars had yet to record a hit.
South’s Oliver Brown broke up the no-hitter with a single, then with two outs Gage Webster hit a home run off former Major League Baseball draft pick Corey Madden to tie the game at 2-2. The game would end in a tie.
Alaska 20’s Sam Berry pitched a scoreless inning in the game, with teammate Tanner Ussing making a fine defensive play to help Berry get out of his inning. Mose Hayes also played for the American Division All-Stars.
Alaska 20 begins play at the Alliance Baseball League State Tournament today at 5 p.m. with a game against Eagle River. Alaska 20 plays South on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Chugiak on Sunday at 11 a.m. Alaska 20 needs to finish in the top two of its four-person group to make Tuesday’s semifinals.
