The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame announced the Class of 2018 on Thursday, the 12th class to be honored by the Hall.

The members are a moment by mountaineer Dolly Lefever of Anchorage, volleyball coach Virgil Hooe, cross-country skier Holly Brooks and the Arctic Winter Games.

In 1993, Lefever reached the summit of Australia’s Mount Kosciuszko to become the first American woman and third woman, period, to reach the peak of all Seven Summits.

The other seven summits are Everest in Asia, Aconcagua in South America, Denali in North America, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe and Vinson in Antarctica.

Hooe, of Anchorage, won 11 Class 4A state titles, including 10 at Service.

Brooks, of Anchorage, competed twice in the Olympics, won the 50K Tour of Anchorage, the 55K American Birkebeiner and two Mount Marathons.

The Arctic Winter Games started in 1969 with an assist from Gov. Walter J. Hickel. Alaska has hosted the Games six times, including the Kenai Peninsula in 2006.
