Runners with peninsula ties picked up victories in Thursday’s Turnagain Arm Trail south of Anchorage. Anchorage’s Lars Arneson won the men’s eight-mile race in 51 minutes, 44 seconds, while Seward runners Erik Johnson placed fifth in 56:47 and Patrick Lewis took ninth in 57:56. Arneson is a 2009 Cook Inlet Academy grad.
Denali Strabel, formerly Denali Foldager, won the women’s eight-mile race in a course record 59:21. Behind her, Anchorage runner Julianne Dickerson placed fourth in 1:04:45. Dickerson grew up in Kenai before moving to Anchorage, and Strabel is a 2008 Seward grad.
