ASAA delays the start of hockey to Oct. 26

The Alaska School Activities Association announced Monday that the start of the hockey season has been delayed to Oct. 26.

The start of the season had originally been Wednesday. After an outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the 2020 Termination Dust Invitational, a youth hockey tournament in Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Superintendent John O’Brien had moved the start of the season for Homer, Kenai Central and Soldotna to Oct. 19.

ASAA’s move pushes the season even later for all prep programs in the state.
