The Kenai Central baseball team lost 10-0 to Palmer in five innings Saturday in Southcentral Conference action at Kenai Little League fields.
The Kardinals are now 2-3 in the league and 3-5 overall.
“Our defense struggled and we had a hard time at the plate,” Kenai coach Luke Oliver wrote in a text message. “We had a few opportunities, but couldn’t get a timely hit.”
Kodiak 8, Homer 7
The host Mariners fell to 0-2 in the Southcentral Conference and 1-4 overall with the loss to the Bears.
Homer grabbed a 5-3 lead after two innings, but Kodiak went up 8-6 with four runs in the sixth inning. Homer managed a run in the bottom of the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.
Camden Wise pitched the first 3 1-3 innings for Homer, giving up three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out four. Malachi Raymond then gave up four runs on four hits in 1 2-3 innings, and Mylan Johnson yielded a run on two hits in two innings.
Johnson had two runs for Homer, while Raymond was 2 for 2 with three runs and four RBIs. Oak Anderson added a pair of RBIs for Homer.
