The Soldotna baseball team defeated Palmer 4-2 on Friday in Southcentral Conference play at the Soldotna Little League fields.
The Stars took a 2-0 lead after the third inning and 4-0 lead after the fifth inning. The Moose scored two runs in the sixth.
Atticus Gibson picked up the victory for the Stars, going six innings and giving up two runs on two hits while walking seven and striking out six. Derrick Jones pitched a scoreless and hitless seventh inning.
Gavin Jones led the Stars at the plate, going 2 for 2 with two runs. Also for SoHi, Levi Mickelson had a hit and a run, Jacob Belger had a hit, Nate Mowery had a hit and Derrick Jones had a hit and a run.
Kodiak boys 13, Kenai 2
The host Kardinals fell to 2-2 in the Southcentral Conference and 3-4 overall with the loss at the Kenai Little League fields.
Kenai coach Luke Oliver said his team had too many walks and made some costly errors. The coach added that Kodiak did a great job pounding the strike zone and making defensive plays.
