The Kenai River Brown Bears defeated the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 5-4 in overtime in an exhibition Thursday at the Richfield Ice Arena in Minnesota.
Peter Morgan scored the winner in overtime for the Bears.
The Bears got on the board first in the first period when Cam Blanton scored on the power play, but Fairbanks quickly answered with a power-play goal of its own by Mason Plante. Shayne Tomlinson scored with 5:39 left in the first to give Kenai River the lead after one period.
Austin Becker started the second period for the Ice Dogs by evening the score. Late in the second period, Brandon McNamara scored to give the Bears the lead heading to the final period.
Kenai River went up 4-2 to start the third period on a shot from the point from Adam Szubert. But Zachary Murray and Jasper Lester would score to even things up.
Kenai River continues the Midwest Division Jamboree today with 8 a.m. AKDT and 4 p.m. AKDT games against the Chippewa (Wisconsin) Steel.
Saturday, the Bears play the Minnesota Magicians at 4 p.m. AKDT.
Kenai River opens the regular season Nov. 6 at the Chippewa Steel.
