Soldotna junior Tania Boonstra and Soldotna senior Ariana Cannava scored points for Team Alaska on Friday at the 2025 Junior Nationals at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Utah.
Cannava finished 18th in the Under-20 women 15-kilometer freestyle mass start with a time of 49 minutes, 58.1 seconds. Hanna Koch of Team Midwest won at 44:39.0.
Boonstra finished 21st in the Under-18 women 10-kilometer freestyle mass start at 38 minutes, 20.8 seconds. Lena Poduska of Team Intermountain won at 33:43.9.
Kenai Central junior Chase Laker finished 36th in 31:59.7 in the Under-18 men 10-kilometer freestyle mass start. Logan Drevlow of Team Midwest won at 27:54.6.
Cannava’s result got Team Alaska seven points, while Boonstra nabbed a point.
After three days, Team Alaska is in second place in the team competition, known as the Alaska Cup, with 762 points. Intermountain leads with 836 points.
Junior Nationals, which features the country’s top skiers Under 20, finishes Saturday with the mixed classic relays.
