Soldotna senior Rhys Cannava signed a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday to play soccer at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
The Fort Lewis Skyhawks compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division II level. Fort Lewis is led by Damian Clarke, who is in his second stint as head coach. He was originally at Fort Lewis from 2007 to 2013 and went 106-31-17 to earn the most wins in school history. Clark returned to Fort Lewis in 2018.
This past season, Fort Lewis finished 5-10-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the conference, but Clarke is expecting to be much better next season.
Cannava earned letters for the Stars in basketball and soccer. She is a vital goal scorer for the soccer team, earning MVP of the Peninsula Conference as a junior. She helped the Stars to conference titles in 2019 and 2021, finishing runner-up at Division II state in 2021.
