The Chugiak Chinooks defeated the Peninsula Oilers 3-2 on Wednesday at Lee Jordan Field in Alaska Baseball League play.
The Oilers fall to 8-7 in the ABL and 2-5 on the current road trip.
The Chinooks led 2-0 after the bottom of the third inning. The Oilers got one back in the top of the fifth, but the Chinooks went up 3-2 in the bottom of that frame. The Oilers scored one in the top of the eighth.
Jake Putman took the loss, giving up three runs on four hits while walking two and striking out six. Lee Atkinson and Andre Orselli put together 3 2-3 innings of scoreless and hitless relief.
The Oilers got just four hits against Chinooks pitching. Those hits came from John Olmstead, Garrett Pennington, Dylan Ditzenberger and Henry Novicki.
The Oilers continue the road trip today at 7 p.m. against the Mat-Su Miners at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
