Kenai biathlete Travis Cooper anchored the 18th-place finishing United States mens relay team Tuesday at the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships in Cheile Gradistei, Romania. The event closed out a week of racing for Cooper.
The 2015 Kenai Central graduate joined fellow American teammates Paul Everett, Brian Halligan and Brendan Cyr to steer the US team to 18th out of 20 finishing teams with a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes, 30.6 seconds in the 4-by-7.5 kilometer relay. Russia won the event in a time of 1:23:56.7.
Cooper missed eight targets on his leg of the relay to finish with a split time of 26:19.
