Dahl wins The Gauntlet mountain biking race

Tor Dahl won The Gauntlet mountain biking race Sunday, Aug. 20, at Tsalteshi Trails just outside of Soldotna.

In The Gauntlet, racers find all the checkpoints on the trail, then return to the finish area with a page from a book that is at each checkpoint. Once all the pages are verified, the racer goes out for another lap.

There is a time limit of three hours, though racers don’t have to ride for that long.

Dahl did four laps and got four pages into another lap before crossing the line at 2:56:30. Stephanie Lambe was second, doing four laps and three pages before finishing at 2:49:17.

The bike season continues at Tsalteshi with the Chainwreck Cyclocross Series beginning Thursday, Sept. 7. The race begins at 6:15 p.m. Watch Tsalteshi’s Facebook for location details.
