Kenai River Brown Bears forward Cole Dubicki was named the Bauer Hockey Midwest Division Star of the Week on Monday by the North American Hockey League.
Dubicki, who is from Seattle, played a pivotal role in the Brown Bears getting four points out of a three-game series at the Springfield (Illinois) Jr. Blues. The Jr. Blues are second in the Midwest Division, while Kenai River is in last place.
In Thursday’s 6-0 victory, the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder had two goals and three assists. In Friday’s 4-3 shootout loss, Dubicki had a goal. In Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss, Dubicki had an assist.
Dubicki ran his point streak to nine games. He has piled up five goals and 16 assists in that time and is tied for fourth in the league in points with 37 in 29 games played.
“Cole is an awesome young man who has been an impact guy for us all year,” Kenai River interim head coach Taylor Shaw said in a released statement. “He has really bought into the little details that has given the team success as of late and as a result he has had a lot of success personally.
“We are very excited to watch what he can contribute during the second half of the season.”
The Brown Bears are back in action Jan. 1 at noon at the Minnesota Magicians.
