Esports Week 3: Kenai maintains perfect streak, SoHi takes week off

The third week of esports competition was a quiet one. Soldotna High School teams had a week off, while two of Kenai’s matches were rescheduled into a busier week four.

League of Legends

Kenai Central High School swept Andrew K. Demoski School, which is located in Nulato, Alaska, rising to 2-1 in tournament play. The Kardinals are now ranked fourth in the state.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Kenai Central Smash 1 continued their perfect streak this week and maintained their position at the top of the league rankings, rising to 3-0 after sweeping the second place team, Lathrop High School. They are the only team in the league to sweep every opponent so far.

Nikiski Middle/High School fell to Hutchison High School this week, falling to 1-1 and 18th in the league.

A makeup game was scheduled for this week between Kenai 2 and Nikiski, but Kenai’s coach Shane Lopez said it was delayed again into next week.

Rocket League

No Peninsula teams saw Rocket League competition this week, as Kenai’s match against the Sitka Wolves was also rescheduled for Monday.
