Fallon outduels Newbould at Salmon Run Series 3

Greg Fallon outdueled Brandon Newbould at the third race of the Salmon Run Series on Wednesday, July 24, at Tsalteshi Trails just outside of Soldotna.

Fallon, who won the Division II state 800 meters in 2024 as a senior and 2022 as a sophomore, finished the 5-kilometer course at 17 minutes, 20 seconds.

He currently is the cross-country coach for Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, where he coached Byron Grevious to a win in the 5,000 meters at 2023 Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Salmon Run Series 3 had 46 finishers.

The series continues Wednesday, July 31, at the Kalifornsky Beach trailhead of Tsalteshi Trails. On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the series returns to the Skyview Middle School trailhead at Tsalteshi for the series finale.

Check-in for the race is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. There is a 1-kilometer kids race at 6 p.m., with a $5 cash donation suggested.
