Seward mountain runner Denali Foldager-Strabel raced her way to a top-20 finish Thursday at the 2018 Skyrunning World Championships in Kinlochleven, Scotland.
The 2008 Seward High School grad finished 20th out of 106 competitors in the female division in the uphill-only Mamores VK, which features a vertical kilometer of ascent.
Foldager-Strabel finished in a time of 58 minutes, 17 seconds, behind the winning time of 51:35, and is one of three Alaskans competing for Team USA at the event, joining Lauren Fritz of Chugiak and Heather Edic of Fairbanks.
The weekend also includes a 52-kilometer Ultra race with over 3,800 meters of elevation, and a 29-kilometer Sky race with 2,500 meters elevation.
