Friday baseball: Soldotna, Homer pick up conference wins on the road

The visiting Soldotna baseball team defeated Redington 13-1 in six innings Friday in Northern Lights Conference action.

The Stars are now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Andrew Pieh went the first 5 1-3 innings for Soldotna, giving up a run on two hits while walking three and striking out 13. Levi Mickelson then struck out the only two batters he faced.

Easton Hawkins was 2 for 4 with three runs, while Tucker Blough scored two runs, Derrick Jones scored two runs and had three RBIs, Pieh was 2 for 3 with two runs and four RBIs, Jayden Stuyvesant was 3 for 4 with two runs, and Brenden Theel had three RBIs.

Homer 9, Grace Christian 1

The visiting Mariners notched a Northern Lights Conference victory over the Grizzlies on Friday. Homer is now 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Camden Wise went all seven innings for Homer, giving up an unearned run on a hit while walking two and striking out 11.

At the plate for Homer, Oak Anderson was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Clyde Clemens scored two runs, Preston Stanislaw was 2 for 3, and Malachi Raymond had two RBIs.
