The Anchorage Bucs defeated the Peninsula Oilers 6-1 on Friday in Alaska Baseball League action at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
The two squads have now split the first four games of the series. The series will be decided at 6 p.m. Saturday at Seymour Park.
That will be the last game of a 10-game homestand for the Oilers. Peninsula is 6-3 on the homestand thus far.
The Bucs lead the league at 11-4, while the Oilers are 7-6, the Mat-Su Miners are 7-8, the Anchorage Glacier Pilots are 7-11 and the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks are 5-8.
Friday’s game belonged to Bucs starter Garvey Rumary. He went 7 1-3 scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while walking one and striking out two.
Rylan Heider recorded two outs without incident for the Bucs, while the Oilers were able to break up the shutout in the ninth against Eli Lipinski.
For the Oilers, starter Cody New gave up three runs — two earned — in three innings. New gave up just two hits while walking five and striking out six.
Nicholai Arbach gave up three runs — two earned — on three hits in six innings, walking two and striking out nine.
Christian Powell was 1 for 3 with two RBIs for the Bucs. Elijah Vogelsong-Lewis had both the hits for the Oilers. Petey Soto scored the run, while Cole Dawson had the RBI.
