Friday hoops: Nikiski and Ninilchik advance in Invitational, Kenai and Seward split

On Friday, Kenai split games with Seward, Soldotna split games with Mountain City Christian Academy, and the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament continued with eight games. In the Invitational, the Nikiski girls and Ninilchik boys are both 2-0.

Kenai girls 53, Seward 32

The Kenai Central girls took a 53-32 win over visiting Seward on Friday. The Kardinals are up to 5-12 overall, while the Seahawks drop to 10-8.

Emma Beck led scoring with 26 for Kenai. Ellsi Miller posted 11, Sierra Hershberger had 7, Alex Nelson and Avia Miller each had 3, Grace Kahn had 2 and Emilee WIlson had 1.

Robin Cronin was the top scorer for the Seahawks at 12. Addison Lemme had 5, Mikinley Williams and Stella Dow each had 4, Ava Jagielski and Natalie Sieminski each had 3 and Hailey Ingalls had 1.

Seward boys 43, Kenai 19

The visiting Seward boys topped Kenai 43-19. The Seahawks are now 15-4 overall, while the Kardinals are 5-11.

Ben Ambrosiani led scoring for Seward with 13 points. Nick Ambrosiani had 8, Talon Lemme had 7, Emerson Cross had 6, Van Shank had 5 and both Mason Elhard and Kupono Albino had 2.

Miles Metteer and William Wilson each posted 5 points for the Kardinals. Ben Harris had 4, Trae Pitsch had 3 and Daniel Steffenson had 2

Mountain City Christian Academy girls 72, Soldotna 22

The MCCA girls topped the visiting Stars 72-22 on Friday. Soldotna drops to 10-9 overall.

For the Stars, Kaytlin McAnelly led scoring for Soldotna with 8. Sarah Brown had 5, Isabelle Cruz had 4, Alyssa McDonald had 3 and Hope Hillyer had 2.

For MCCA, Keelie Kronberger had 19 points. Morgan Maldonado had 16, Jasmine Schaeffer had 9, both Nyawvow Majiok and Maliyah Alex had 8. Nyamach Mathot had 7, Nyatuong Majiok had 4 and Jieaya Siatini had 1.

Soldotna boys 55, MCCA 49

The Soldotna boys took a win over host MCCA 55-49 on Friday. Soldotna climbs to 10-10 overall.

Andrew Pieh paced the Stars with 21 points. Izaiah Gilbert had 13, Theo Huff had 7, Jace O’Reagen had 6, Cameron LaRoque had 5 and Easton Hawkins had 3.

For MCCA, Darian Iowacho had 25 points. Both Jaidhen Oyao and Nolan Warren had 7. Both Lukas Underhill and Serge Duchaiellier had 5. Stryder Kronburger had 2.

Ninilchik Invitational Tournament

Aniak girls 39, Cook Inlet Academy 31

The Aniak girls won 39-31 over Cook Inlet Academy Friday in the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament. Aniak is 1-1 in the Invitational.

Sierra Lang led scoring with 21 for Aniak. Cassandra Robinette had 7, Calvina Phillips had 6 and Leona Morgan had 5.

Rebekah Dillingham had 14 for the Eagles. Maria Smith had 11, Mackenzie Carson had 3, Gabrielle Viefeld had 2 and Kristi Stoll had 1.

Cook Inlet Academy boys 93, Aniak 66

The Eagles topped Aniak 93-66 during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament. Aniak is 1-1 in the Invitational.

Ian McGarry scored 43 for Cook Inlet. Alex McGarry had 18, Jonas Oyoumick had 11, Owen Brand had 6, both Trent Waller and Lucas Oyoumick had 3 and both Brady Batten and Matthew Philips had 2.

William Morgan led Aniak with 37 points. Troy Morgan had 8, Ryan Lang and Marshall Dallman had 6, Ralphie Steeves had 2 and Kinglet Even had 1.

Nikiski girls 50, Tok 42

The Nikiski girls won over Tok during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament 50-42. Tok is 1-1 in the Invitational.

Alexa Iyatunguk had 14, Maggie Grenier had 9, Shelby Burman and Shania Weathers had 7, Abigail White and Mandee Roofe had 4, Avery Ellis and Emma Weeks had 2 and Madison Iyatunguk had 1.

Lesette Standife led scoring with 26 for Tok. Skyla Young had 10, Danica Sanford had 4 and Rachel Ames had 2.

Tok boys 69, Nikiski 47

The Bulldogs fell to Tok on Friday during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament 69-47. Tok is 1-1 in the Invitational.

Chairo Espinosa led scoring with 27 points for Tok.

Lynn DeVeer put up 12 for Nikiski. Seth Payne and Carter Eiter had 10 and Gavin Ley had 4. Connor Ley, Dylan Hall and Kameron Bird all had 3. Ryder Maguire had 2.

Unalaska girls 52, Cook Inlet Academy 11

The Unalaska girls dropped Cook Inlet Academy on Friday during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament 52-11. The Eagles are 1-18 overall and 0-2 in the Invitational. Unalaska are 2-0 in the invitational.

Isabella Lopez led scoring for Unalaska at 18. Abija Gumbs and Kenzie Kochuten had 12, Kallysha Ranario had 6 and both Rylee LaForteza and Dalyla Nettleton had 2.

For the Eagles, Rebekah Dillingham had 6 and Maria Smith had 5.

Unalaska boys 59, Cook Inlet Academy 53

The Unalaska boys topped the Eagles 59-53 in the sixth game of the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament on Friday. Unalaska and the Eagles are 1-1 in the invitational. Cook Inlet Academy is 17-3 overall.

Nic Kitsyuk had 26 points for Unalaska. Gage Williams had 15, Cache Henning had 8, Kaidon Parlear had 6 and Aaron SanLuis had 3.

Ian McGarry put 28 on the board for the Eagles. Alex McGarry had 14, Jeremy Dillingham had 6 and Brandt Rollman had 5.

Nikiski girls 57, Ninilchik 39

The Nikiski girls took a win over Ninilchik in their last game played Friday during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in the invitational. The Wolverines are 0-2 in the invitational and 9-12 overall.

Alexa Iyatunguk led scoring for Nikiski with 20 points. Maggie Grenier had 9, Madison Iyatunguk and Mandee Roofe had 6 and Shelby Burman had 5. Abigail White, Avery Ellis and Emma Weeks had 4. Brooke Abel had 2.

Riley Tucker put up 21 for the Wolverines. Taylor Rickard had 12, Talon Bock had 3, 5Addi McCorison had 2 and Klohie Hughes had 1.

Ninilchik boys 59, Nikiski 41

The Ninilchik boys dropped Nikiski in the last game played Friday during the Ninilchik Invitational Tournament. The Wolverines are 2-0 in the invitational and 13-8 overall. The Nikiski boys are 0-2 in the invitational.

Rowan Mahoney had 21 for the Wolverines. Kade McCorison had 17, Max Russell had 11 and Carter Lemons had 8.

For the Bulldogs, Seth Payne had 22. Kevin Lone had 7 and Connor Ley had 3. Carter Eiter, Dylan Hall and Lynn DeVeer had 2. Mylan Johnson had 1.
