Friday hoops roundup: Tourney results for peninsula teams

The Soldotna girls basketball team moved to 1-1 at the Craig Jung Kenai River Challenge at Kenai Central by defeating Redington 57-13. The Huskies dropped to 0-2 at the tourney.

Anaulie Sedivy and Juliet Innes each had 14 to pace the Stars, while Anika Jedlicka, Morgan Lemm and Hope Hillyer all had 7. Grayson Henry pitched in 4, while Brooke Walters and Laurel Johnson each had 2.

For Redington, Sonia Gericke had 6, Abigail Douglas had 3, and Saydi Cardoso and Mia Knox each had 2.

The Mt. Edgecumbe girls toppled Kenai 79-25. Mt. Edgecumbe is 2-0 at the tourney, while Kenai is 1-1.

Carliese O’Brien led the Wolves with 19 points, while Tahira Akaran had 15, Tessa Anderson had 14, Bessie Williams had 11, Brooke Markoff had 7, Camille Johnson and Reagan David had 4 apiece, Shianne Otton had 3 and Lucy Capelle had 2.

For the Kenai girls, Emilee Wilson had 7, Ellsi Miller had 6, Grace Kahn had 4, Sierra Hershberger had 3 and Alex Nelson and Mycka Phillips had 2 apiece.

The Soldotna boys moved to 1-1 at the tournament by toppling Redington 77-42. Redington also is 1-1.

For Soldotna, Izaiah Gilbert had 28, Andrew Pieh had 17, Zac Buckbee had 14, Jace O’Reagan had 9, Cameron Laroque had 4, Chris Glaves had 3 and Shaun Firmin had 2.

For Redington, Kenneth Johnson had 14, Doyle Bond had 13, Christian Ingraham and Aiden Dobbs had 5 apiece, Kaedon Sexton and Jake Murdock each had 2, and Silas Conner had 1.

The Kenai boys took a 65-20 loss to Mt. Edgecumbe, with the Braves moving to 2-0 at the tourney and the Kards falling to 0-2.

For Kenai, Miles Metteer had 8, William Wilson had 5, Reid Titus had 3, and Trae Pitsch and Ben Harris each had 2.

For Mt. Edgecumbe, Kaison Hermann had 26, Jacob Friske had 12, Lennie Brandell had 5, Kaden Hermann, Tyrell Cromer, Carter Gray and Ray Mork had 4, and Rylan Armstrong and Dustin Otton each had 3.

Today at the tournament, the Mt. Edgecumbe girls play Redington at 11:30 a.m., the Mt. Edgecumbe boys play Redington at 1 p.m., the Kenai girls play Soldotna at 2:30 p.m. and the Kenai boys play Soldotna at 4 p.m.

Cook Inlet Classic

The Cook Inlet Academy boys improved to 2-0 at the tournament by topping the Kenai junior varsity 63-40. The Kards are 0-2 at the tourney.

For the Eagles, Alek McGarry had 22, Ian McGarry had 19, Owen Braband had 10, Jeremy Dillingham had 5, Brandt Rollman had 4 and Jonas Oyoumick had 3.

For Kenai JV, Riel Castillo had 19, Zach Armstrong had 9, Richie Lundahl had 6, Gage Ivy had 4 and Eli Smith had 2.

The Kenai JV girls got a 44-18 victory over Cook Inlet Academy. The Kards are 1-1 at the tourney, while CIA is 0-2.

For the Kards, Mckenize Spence had 18, Savannah Hershberger had 10, Allie Hutchins had 6, Evelyn Cooper had 4, Gracee Every had 3, Willow Graham had 2 and Kaylauna Gump had 1.

For CIA, Ella Rollman had 16 and Rebekah Dillingham had 2.

The Susitna Valley girls defeated SoHi JV 46-11. The Rams are 2-0 at the tourney, while Stars are 1-1.

For the Rams, Poppy Moren and Lily Esmailka had 10 apiece. Also, Cori Gossett had 8, Qmia Taala had 6, and Sahai Benischek, Jayden Sliker and Ashley Delima each had 4.

For SoHi JV, Rebekah Pieh had 4, while Katie DeBardelaben, Jillian Duncan and Ryan Queen had 2, and Teague Kobylarz had 1.

The Susitna Valley boys improved to 2-0 at the tourney by defeating Soldotna’s JV 47-26. The Stars fell to 0-2.

For the Rams, Landon Ballard had 17, Austin Barnard had 13, Miles Osmond had 7, Henry Davidson had 4, Austin Pevan had 2 and Earl Dividson had 1.

For SoHi JV, Carter Hillyer had 9, Jayden Stuyvesant had 8, Brody Linton had 5 and Brenden Theel had 4.

Today at the tournament, the SoHi JV girls play Kenai at 11 a.m., the SoHi JV boys play Kenai at 12:45 p.m., the Su-Valley girls play CIA at 2:30 p.m. and the Su-Valley boys play CIA at 4:15 p.m.

The Su-Valley girls can clinch the tournament with a victory over CIA, while the Su-Valley and CIA boys will play for the title.

25th Annual Grace Grizzly Classic

The Grace Christian boys notched an 84-52 victory over Homer on Friday at the classic at Grace Christian. The Mariners fell to 0-2 at the tournament.

Lucas Story was in double figures for Homer with 15 points, while Einar Pederson had 14.

For Grace, Kellen Jedlicka led the way with 24 points, while Robbie Annett and Henry Beck joined in double figures with 14 each.

The Homer girls dropped to 0-2 with a 66-28 loss to Grace.

For the Homer girls, Channing Lowney led the way with 11 points, while Sydney Shelby had 5, Keagan Niebuhr had 4, and Juliann Techie, Minadora Reutov, Mally Im and Hadley Glidden had 2.

For Grace, Sophie Lentfer had 21, Poppy Wiggers-Pidduck had 12, M.J. Van der Horst had 10, Ella Boerger had 9, Molly Schild had 7, Josie Evans-Grant had 5 and Olivia Jones had 2.

Lady Archangel Tip-Off Tournament

The Nikiski girls lost to South 43-31 in the semifinals of the tournament at Lumen Christi in Anchorage. The Bulldogs play Wasilla JV/C today at 5 p.m. for third place. South and Houston play for the championship at 7 p.m.

For South, MaKaylen Kong had 12, Niveah Heartwell had 10, Ellie Birch had 8, Skylar Morris had 7, and Reese Grebauer, Karolina Rzeszut and Isa Costa da Silva had 2.

For Nikiski (1-1 overall), Shelby Burman and Maggie Grenier had 11, while Kailey Stynsberg had 6 and Emma Weeks had 2.

The Seward girls defeated Lumen Christi 53-21 and will play Glennallen at 3 p.m. for fourth place.

For Seward (1-1 overall), Ava Jagielski pumped in 17, while Robin Cronin had 12, Mikinley Williams and Natalie Sieminski each had 8, Stella Dow had 4, and Addison Lemme and Kia Shank had 2.

For Lumen, Isabel Brown had 10, Amara Warren had 7, and Alliyah Brown and Clara Estabrook had 2.

Seward boys 66, North Douglas (Oregon) 64

The Seahawks notched a nonconference victory over North Douglas at Ninilchik. It was the season opener for Seward.

For the Seahawks, Nick Ambrosiani had 22, Bergen Davis had 16, Ben Ambrosiani had 12, Van Shank and Emerson Cross had 6, and Talon Lemme and Kupono Albino had 2.

For North Douglas, Hunter Vaughn had 23, Jayden Montgomery had 18, Tucker Kallinger had 12, Caden Reigard had 7 and Wyatt Reed had 4.
