The Soldotna girls and boys both moved to 2-0 on the young season with victories at the Craig Jung Kenai River Challenge on Friday. The Palmer girls and boys also picked up wins.
The Soldotna girls toppled Kenai 39-26. The Stars are 2-0, while the Kardinals are 1-1.
Hope Hillyer had 12 points and was the lone player in the game to hit double figures. Anika Jedlicka and Cassidy Kruse had 6, while Anaulie Sedivy had 5, Isabelle Cruz and Jillian Duncan had 3, and Grayson Henry and Brooke Walters had 2.
For the Kards, Ellsi Miller had 7, Bryleigh Williams had 6, McKenzie Spence had 5, and Sierra Hershberger and Gracee Every had 4 apiece.

For the Kardinals, Miles Metteer had 10, Reid Titus had 6, Carter Felchle had 5, Caleb Litke had 4, Eli Smith had 2, and Riel Castillo and Mason Tunseth each had 1.
The Palmer girls notched a 38-34 victory over Seward. The Moose are 1-1, while the Seahawks are 0-2.
For the Moose, Jasmine Hephner had 17, Addy Wilson had 6, Kaylyn Miller had 4, Mariah Bothwell, Loren Nichols and Kaelyn Downey had 3, and Presley Wright had 2.
For the Seahawks, Ava Jagielski had 16 points, including 8 in the fourth quarter. Also for Seward, Grace Fleming had 7, Mikinley Williams had 6, Lia Shank and Natalie Sieminski had 2 and Addison Lemme had 1.
The Palmer boys defeated Seward 64-41. Palmer is 2-0, while the Seahawks are 0-2.
For the Moose, Lukas Owen had 16, Maddox Moore had 14, Logan Ralston and Nolan Garner had 10, Truman Dean had 8, Logan McCann had 4 and Logan Johnson had 2.
For the Seahawks, Emerson Cross had 17, Talon Lemme had 14, Mason Elhard had 4, and Jack Lindquist and Van Shank each had 3.
Saturday, the SoHi girls can wrap up the title when they play Palmer at 11:30 a.m. The Soldotna and Palmer boys will play for the championship at 1 p.m.
The Kenai girls face Seward at 2:30 p.m., while the Kenai boys face Seward at 4 p.m.
CIA Classic
The Ninilchik boys, Cook Inlet Academy girls, Birchwood Christian girls and Shaktoolik boys claimed wins Friday at the tournament.
The Ninilchik boys knocked off Cook Inlet Academy 51-47. The Wolverines were in the Class 2A state tourney last season, while the Eagles made state at 1A. Ninilchik is 2-0, while CIA is 0-2.
Kade McCorison led the Wolverines with 23 points, while Max Russell had 12. Also for Ninilchik, Brandt Mill and Onyx Allen had 5 and Andon McCorison had 3.
Ian McGarry paced the Eagles with 30 points, while Zach Armstrong had 6, Owen Braband had 5, Matthew Phillips had 4 and Lucas Oyoumick had 2.
The Cook Inlet Academy girls picked up a 65-41 victory over Ninilchik.
For the Eagles, Ella Rollman had 26, Maria Smith had 16, Clara Warren had 8, Sophie Rozak had 7, Kristi Stoll had 3 and Isabella Porsi had 2.
For the Wolverines, Caelis Cress had 17, Lily Berger had 14, Lucy Reynolds had 6 and Rylee Lemon had 4.
The Birchwood Christian girls defeated CIA JV 43-22 to move to 1-1 in the tourney.
For the Warriors, Able West had 12, Peyton Smith had 10, Madison Walker had 8, Elise Becker had 6, Mikayla Meyer had 5 and Svea Worland had 2.
For CIA JV, Isabella Porsi had 13, Maddison Curren had 5, Brandi Harkleroad had 2 and Reagan Woodward had 1.
The Shaktoolik boys topped Birchwood Christian 54-43. Shaktoolik is 2-0, while Birchwood is 0-2.
For Shaktoolik, Seth Paniptchuk had 27, Chase Katchatag had 12, Mason Paniptchuk had 9 and Bryce Patterson had 5.
For the Warriors, AJ Severns had 31, Karsten Wetzel had 6, Rylan Palmer had 3, and Finn Courtney, Kaleb Worland and Mi’chale Bugh had 2.
Saturday, the Ninilchik girls play Soldotna JV at 10 a.m., then the Ninilchik boys face Shaktoolik in the championship game at 11:45 a.m.
The CIA girls can win the title with a victory in the 1:30 p.m. game against Birchwood, while the CIA boys play Birchwood at 3:15 p.m.
Doc Larson’s Roundball Classic
The Nikiski girls basketball team fell to 0-2 on the year and at the tournament with a 69-33 loss to Bartlett.
Blakeley Jorgensen lead the Bulldogs with 13, while Kailey Stynsberg had 9, Avery Ellis had 8 and Madison Iyatunguk had 3.
For Bartlett, Harmony Jenkins-Fosters had 19, Aurora Bernard-Ali, Kennedi Gaines and Aviana Stoute had 12, Dallas Watson had 5, Amara Haliburton had 3, and Maryann Maugaotega, Nahliah Houston and Velezia Diaz had 2.
Saturday, Nikiski plays North Pole at noon to wrap up the tournament.
