Friday volleyball: Nikiski tops Seward; Kenai goes undefeated in Slamma Jamma bracket play

The visiting Nikiski volleyball team defeated Seward 25-22, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-19 on Friday in Southcentral Conference action.

The Bulldogs, with their second win over the Seahawks, move to 2-1 in the league and 8-4 in nontournament play, while Seward falls to 2-3 in the league and 3-3 overall.

Kailey Stynsberg had 26 digs for the Bulldogs, while Evelyn Reichert had 21 digs, Maggie Grenier had 15 assists and six kills, Avery Ellis had 13 assists and five aces, and Ashlynne Playle had nine kills and eight blocks.

Kenai finishes undefeated in pool play at Southeast Super Slamma Jamma

The Kenai Central volleyball team went 16-0 in pool play Thursday and Friday at the Southeast Super Slamma Jamma in Sitka, while Homer was 6-10.

The pool play is used to seed bracket play Saturday.

Also, Thunder Mountain was 11-5, Palmer was 10-6, Sitka was 10-6, Mt. Edgecumbe was 9-7, Ketchikan was 7-9, Homer was 6-10, Nome was 2-14 and Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale was 1-15.

Friday, the Kardinals topped Nome 25-11, 25-20, topped Palmer 25-20, 25-14, topped Thunder Mountain 25-10, 25-11, topped Juneau-Douglas 25-14, 25-12, and topped Mt. Edgecumbe 25-3, 25-13.

Also Friday, Homer lost to Palmer 25-18, 25-19, beat Juneau-Douglas 25-20, 25-12, beat Nome 25-16, 25-22, beat Thunder Mountain 26-24 and lost to Thunder Mountain 25-15
