Gessert scores in NAHL Top Prospects tourney

Kenai River Brown Bears forward Jack Gessert scored in a 5-3 victory for Midwest over the North team Tuesday at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Gessert’s goal came with 1 minute, 18 seconds, remaining in the second period and pushed Midwest’s lead to 4-2. Gessert ended with six shots on goal.

Brown Bears teammates Maurin Bouvet and Tyler Andrews are also on Midwest but did not record a point Tuesday. Bouvet did have four shots on goal.

In other game action Tuesday, the NAHL Selects edged Team USA 17U in a shootout 3-2, and Central beat South in a 5-1 rout.

The Selects outscored their opponents 2-0 in the shootout. Brown Bears forward Tanner Schachle recorded two shots on goal in the game for the Selects. The game was the final tilt of the tournament.
