Homer picked up a 17-6 victory over Kenai Central in six innings Thursday evening in Homer.
Brandon Beachy tossed five innings for Homer, giving up six runs on five hits, six walks and getting three strikeouts. J.J. Sonnen finished the job in the sixth frame with no runs and no hits.
Connor Jones, Sam Combs, Taylor Landry, Tanner Wortham and Steven Norvelle combined all shared time on the mound for Kenai.
Homer improved to 5-4 in the Southcentral Conference and 6-5 overall with the win, while Kenai dropped to 1-7 overall.
Michael Swoboda led Homer at the plate by hitting 2 for 3. In a display of consistency, eight other Homer players had a hit.
The Mariners started fast with five runs in the first inning, while Kenai struggled to score runners, leaving several on base throughout the contest. Wortham and Jones both hit 1 for 3 to lead Kenai, and Ellery Steffensen went 1 for 2.
