The Homer softball team went 2-1 on the opening day of the Bash on the Bay tournament in Homer on Friday.
The Mariners lost to Dimond 7-0, but defeated Service 10-4 and Chugiak 6-3. Homer is now 13-19 overall.
The tournament continues Saturday.
Kodiak 12, Kenai 4
The visiting Kardinals dropped to 1-8 in the Northern Lights Conference and 4-15 overall with the loss to the Bears, who are perfect in conference.
Libby Brinner pitched 5 1-3 innings for Kenai, giving up 12 runs on 14 hits while walking two and striking out 11.
Zoey Riley had two runs for Kenai, while Kailey Stynsberg had two hits and two RBIs.
Kodiak 15, Soldotna 2
The visiting Stars fell to 4-6 in the Northern Lights Conference and 8-10 overall with the loss to the Bears, who are perfect in conference.
Isabelle Cruz pitched two innings and gave up 12 hits and 14 runs while walking four and striking out one. Kiara Forkner pitched an inning and gave up a run while walking one and striking out one.
Lexi Stormo had two hits for SoHi, while Brook Fischer had an RBI and Bailey Conner and Miah Mead had the runs.
