The Mariners got the brooms out in Tuesday night’s nonconference affair with the Bulldogs in Homer.
The Homer girls eked out a 4-3 win over Nikiski, while the Homer boys won 6-2.
In the girls game, the Mariners got goals from Desiree Cleary, Rachel Ellert, Sophia Ramirez-Clark and Uliana Reutov. It was their first win of the season, after going 0-2-1 last weekend against the Southeast teams of Juneau and Thunder Mountain.
In the boys game, Homer staked out a 4-0 lead at halftime, with goals coming courtesy of Filip Reutov, Drew Brown, Kenneth Schneider and Simon Dye. In the second half, Charles Rohr and Charlie Menke added goals. Dye, Rohr and Menke were all freshmen players that started.
