The Homer softball team went on the road to notch a Northern Lights Conference sweep of Houston on Thursday. The sweep left Homer at 4-2 in the league and 9-13 overall.
The Mariners won the first game 17-9 in five innings.
Zoe Adkins picked up the win on the mound, going all five innings and giving up nine runs — six earned — on four hits while walking 10 and striking out nine.
At the plate, Kaylin Anderson was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, Emily Owens was 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBIs, Adkins was 3 for 3 with four runs and seven RBIs and Lexy Sweeney scored two runs.
Homer then won 21-1 in three innings. Adkins pitched all three, giving up an unearned run on a hit while walking three and striking out six.
At the plate, Ari Davis had two runs, Anderson was 2 for 4 with four runs, Adkins was 4 for 4 with three runs and seven RBIs, Becca Trowbridge was 4 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs, Owens was 2 for 2 with three runs, Sophie Ellison had two RBIs and Julie Guess had two runs.
Homer plays at the Blue/Gold Tourney in Anchorage on Friday and Saturday.
