Kards win twice Saturday at Rally in the Valley

The Kenai Central, Soldotna and Homer softball teams finished up play at the Rally in the Valley tournament Saturday.

The Mariners finished with a 4-1 loss to North Pole and a 17-1 loss to Ketchikan. Homer finished 0-5 at the tournament.

Against the Patriots, Alaiyah Brost and Emily Owens had the hits, while Julie Guess had the run. Ariana Davis pitched three innings and gave up four runs — three earned — on five hits while walking six and striking out three.

Against the Kings, Brost had a hit and a run, while Davis and Becca Trowbridge added hits.

The Stars finished with a 13-0 loss to Kodiak, finishing the tourney with a 1-3-1 record. Alyssa McDonald and Isabelle Cruz got hits against the Bears.

The Kardinals finished with a pair of wins, topping Wasilla 6-2 and Lathrop 7-4. Kenai was 2-3 at the tournament.

Against Wasilla, Kenai led 3-1 after two innings and took a 6-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Kailey Stynsberg had a pair of hits for the Kardinals, while Kyana Griskevich scored a pair of runs.

Against Lathrop, Kenai led 5-1 after an inning and 7-2 after two innings. Avery Ellis had two runs and two hits for the Kards, while Seylor Tomrdle had two RBIs.
