Karl Danielson, a 2018 graduate of Kenai Central currently redshirting his freshman season at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, took fifth in the Under-20 classic sprints Wednesday at the U.S. Cross Country Junior Nationals at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.
Junior Nationals boasts the best junior skiers in the country. Danielson worked his way into the six-skier final, where he finished fifth. The race was won by Anchorage’s Gus Schumacher.
Also for Team Alaska, Anja Maijala won the U-20 women’s sprint, Michel Earnhart won the U-18 men’s sprint and Kendall Kramer won the U-18 women’s sprint.
After two days, Team Alaska is third in the race for the Alaska Cup, which is awarded to the team with the most points. Alaska has 259, while New England leads with 348.
