Some members of the Kenai Central cross-country team finished up their season by competing in the George Fox Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Willamette Mission State Park in Oregon.

In the 5,000-meter varsity gold girls race, Riana Boonstra paced the Kardinals by placing 32nd in 19 minutes, 58.9 seconds. The winner was at 18:08.5.

Also for the Kardinals, Jaycie Calvert was 39th at 20:20, Brooke Satathite was 64th at 21:13.9 and Ithaca Bergholtz was 72nd at 21:43.9.

In the 5,000-meter varsity silver boys race, Kenai’s Braden Olsen was 41st in 17:55.0.

West High of Anchorage had an impressive showing in the varsity gold race, finishing second as a team. The Eagles scored 87 points and finished 47 behind the champs.

The giant meet draws runners from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Kenai Central’s Allie Ostrander, then a junior, won the elite varsity girls race at the event in 2013.
