The Kenai Central volleyball team kept rolling Saturday by taking the 13th annual Shayna Marie Pritchard Memorial at Nikiski without losing a game.
In the championship, Kenai defeated Soldotna 25-16, 25-18. Homer topped Nikiski for third place with scores of 25-15, 25-19.
Pritchard is a 2007 Nikiski graduate who was killed in a car crash in Colorado in June 2007. Nikiski’s Emma Lakin won this year’s Shayna Marie Pritchard Award.
Kenai’s Bethany Morris claimed MVP at the tourney, while all-tourney honors went to Nikiski’s Lillian Carstens, Homer’s Tonda Smude, Kenai’s Abby Every, SoHi’s Morgan Bouschor, Nikiski’s Rosalie Anderson, Kenai’s Kaylee Lauritsen, Homer’s Sela Weisser, Seward’s Gaia Casagranda and SoHi’s Sarah Rice.
In bracket play leading up to the championship and third-place matches, Nikiski defeated Seward 22-25, 25-11 and 15-8, Soldotna defeated Homer 25-18 and 25-22, Kenai defeated Nikiski 25-18 and 25-19, and Homer defeating Seward 25-22 and 25-16.
