Laker, Umholtz win at Salmon Run Series 4

Chase Laker won the fourth race in the Salmon Run Series on Wednesday, July 31, at Tsalteshi Trails just outside of Soldotna.

Laker covered the course, which was a little short of 5 kilometers, in 16 minutes, 42 seconds, while Collin Atkinson was second in 17:04.

Aurelia Umholtz was the top woman at 21:14, which also was sixth overall.

The race had 38 finishers.

The finale of the series is Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Skyview Middle School trailhead of Tsalteshi Trails.

Check-in for the race is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. There is a 1-kilometer kids race at 6 p.m., with a $5 cash donation suggested.

The 5-kilometer race starts at 6:15 p.m. and is $15, with various discounts available.

Registration is available at kenaiwatershed.org, and also on the day of the race.
