The Anchorage Glacier Pilots defeated the Peninsula Oilers 4-2 on Monday in Alaska Baseball League play at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The Pilots improve to 4-2 in league play, while the Oilers fall to 2-4. The Mat-Su Miners lead the league at 4-1, the Pilots are second, the Anchorage Bucs are third at 3-4 and the Oilers and Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks are tied at 2-4.
The Oilers travel to Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak on Tuesday to face the Chinooks at 6 p.m.
The Pilots grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Oilers starter and loser Connor Kershaw. Kershaw went three innings and gave up four runs on six hits while walking three and striking out two.
The Oilers cut it to 3-1 in the top of the second when William Grimm led off with a single and eventually scored on a ground ball by Brett Grupe.
Anchorage came right back with a run in the bottom of the third for a 4-1 lead.
Peninsula could never mount a comeback while going 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position and striking out 13 times.
The Oilers did notch a run in the seventh when Ty Thomas hit a home run.
Peninsula also got solid relief from Aidan Gonzalez and Drew Dickson to stay in the game.
Gonzalez pitched three scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out three. Dickson pitched two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out one.
The Oilers had five hits in the game, with Ben Griffin leading the way by going 2 for 4.
