The Soldotna softball team used a big fifth inning to topple Kenai Central 17-3 in five innings Monday at Steve Shearer Memorial Ball Park in Kenai in Northern Lights Conference action.
The Stars are now 1-3 in the league and 2-7-1 overall, while the Kardinals are 1-4 and 3-9.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning, then there were no more runs until Soldotna struck for 14 in the top of the fifth.
Miah Mead had two runs for SoHi, while Kiara “KiKi” Forkner had two runs and three RBIs, Juliet Innes had two runs, Brook Fischer was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs, Bailey Conner was 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBIs, and Makynzi Deborski was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Isabelle Cruz got the win on the mound for Soldotna.
