Nikiski JV basketball knocks off CIA

The host Nikiski junior varsity girls basketball team notched a 31-28 overtime victory over Cook Inlet Academy on Wednesday in the season opener for both teams.

The Bulldogs jumped to a 14-7 lead at halftime, but the Eagles came back to tie the game at 25 at the end of regulation.

Tatum Rozak had 21 points to lead Cook Inlet Academy, while Hope Hillyer pitched in seven.

For Nikiski JV, Shelby Burman had six, Maggie Grenier had three, Leora McCaughey had three, Ashlynne Playle had 10, Kailey Stynsberg had four and Destiny Langston had five.
