Ninilchik boys top SoHi in double overtime; Nikiski falls in Ketchikan

The Ninilchik boys basketball team defeated Soldotna 81-74 on Friday at Soldotna High School in nonconference action.

The Wolverines are now 5-0 overall, while the Stars fall to 1-3. The Wolverines also defeated the Stars 68-45 on Dec. 17.

Ninilchik’s Jaylin Scott forced the first overtime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Scott also had a pair of free throws late in the first overtime to force the second overtime.

Colvin Moore pumped in 29 points to lead the Wolverines, while Jaylin Scott had 26. Also for Ninilchik, Peyton Edens had nine, Cooper Adams had two and Rowan Mahoney had one.

For the Stars, Izaiah Gilbert had 26 points, Jakob Brown had 22, Zac Buckbee and Will Inman had 10, Andrew Pieh had five and Jace O’Reagan had one.

Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic

The Nikiski boys basketball team dropped the seventh-place game of the Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic 77-24 to a team from Eatonville, Washington, on Friday. The Bulldogs are now 0-7 overall.
