Austin Vanderford, a 2008 graduate of Ninilchik School, moved to 10-0 in professional mixed martial arts fighting with a victory over Brazil’s Vinicius De Jesus on Nov. 5 at the Bellator 251 main card at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.
Vanderford defeated De Jesus by unanimous decision and is now 4-0 in the Bellator middleweight division.
Vanderford was fighting for the first time since testing positive for COVID-19 and having to pull out of Bellator 246.
On Nov. 5, Vanderford actually was supposed to fight Chris Curtis, but Curtis tested positive for COVID-19, leaving De Jesus (9-4) to take the fight.
