The Interior Conference basketball games between Ninilchik and Nenana did not take place Wednesday in Nenana.
Ninilchik boys coach Nick Finley said the Lynx backed out of the games for another commitment. Finley said Nenana must now find a way to play in Ninilchik later this season or forfeit the games.
After playing in Fairbanks on Tuesday, the Wolverines girls and boys were supposed to fly to Cordova on Wednesday for a Thursday through Saturday tournament, but that flight didn’t happen due to weather in Cordova. The Wolverines will now take a ferry to Cordova on Thursday. The girls and boys will then play one game Friday and two games Saturday.
Also, the Seward girls and boys basketball teams will not attend the Delta Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to COVID-19 issues, according to Seward athletic director and boys coach Al Plan.
The Cook Inlet Academy girls and boys were supposed to play in the Birchwood Bash this weekend, but that now has been changed to just a pair of Friday games at Birchwood, with the girls playing at 3:30 p.m. and the boys at 5 p.m.
