Ninilchik’s starting 5 makes all-state

The Ninilchik boys basketball team, led by Class 2A Player of the Year Landon Colburn, had all five starters get honors in the Wasilla Physical Therapy/Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches awards announced Wednesday.

The Wolverines finished 26-0, capping off their season with a Class 2A state title. Ninilchik finished 9-0 against Class 3A teams and 1-0 against Class 4A teams during the season. Ninilchik scored an average of 79 points per game, while allowing just 37 points per game.

Lukah Kalugin joined Colburn on the Class 2A first team. Jaylin Scott made the second team, while Cole Moore and Justin Trail made the third team. All five starters averaged in double figures this season.

At the Class 3A level, Kenai Central’s Emma Beck made the first team, while Seward’s Shelby Sieminski made the second team.

For the 3A boys, Seward’s Tommy Cronin made the second team, while Homer’s Carter Tennison was on the third team.

At the Class 1A level, Hope Hillyer and Tatum Rozak made the second team for the Cook Inlet Academy girls.
