Eager to face the Anchorage Bucs for the first time all summer, the Peninsula Oilers will have to wait another day. Mother Nature came to play.
The Oilers took an early 1-0 lead over the Bucs thanks to an RBI single from Brody Wofford, but play was suspended by the umpires due to increasing rain. Anchorage was coming off a late doubleheader Monday night that did not end until after midnight. The game was initially delayed for 15 minutes for a wet field.
According to ESPN 1140, Tuesday’s contest will be made up in early August, but it is unclear if the game will resume with one out in the top of the first inning or if a complete scratch is needed.
The Oilers continue Alaska Baseball League play today with a doubleheader against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks starting at 5 p.m. at Lee Jordan Memorial Park.
