Allie Ostrander, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central, finished 15th in the overall standings of the Golden Trail World Series this season.
The Grand Final of the series took place in Switzerland over the weekend.
Thursday, Oct. 17, Ostrander finished seventh in the prologue, a 7-kilometer race with 1,300 feet of elevation gain and loss. Ostrander crossed the line at 33 minutes, 37 seconds. That was 2 minutes behind winner Joyce Njeru of Kenya.
Saturday, Oct. 19, Ostrander finished 19th in the final. According to Ostrander’s YouTube channel, she took a wrong turn during the race that cost her placements. Ostrander finished at 2:25:28, 16:48 behind winner Joyline Chepngeno of Kenya.
That concludes a running season for Ostrander in which she also placed 30th at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in late March in Serbia and seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Oregon in late June.
