Allie Ostrander, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central High School, has been named the 2018 Mountain West Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, an award voted on by the conference’s coaches. Ostrander is the first woman in the league’s history to win the award in back-to-back years.
Ostrander, a Soldotna runner, defended her title at the 3,000-meter steeplehase last weekend at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Just 80 minutes later, she took eighth at 5,000 meters.
The Boise State redshirt sophomore now has eight career All-America honors to her name in cross-country, and indoor and outdoor track.
Ostrander also was named the 2016-17 Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year last year. That award will be announced in July.
